Warped Tour Survival Guide

image

Warped Tour is finally here and to say that we’re stoked would be an understatement. It’s our favourite time of year, from the bands to the merch to working on our tans by spending the entire day in the sun.

We’ve already told you what bands we feel you need to check out on this year’s tour and now we’re going one step further by offering a guide for how to survive the day, as written by someone who’s attended the tour the past five years.

From keeping hydrated to planning out your day, we’ve got a lot of advice for you, so keep on reading! We promise our tips will make your day much better!

Drink LOTS of water

Warped Tour is an outdoor music festival in the summer. It’s pretty much guaranteed that you’ll become dehydrated if you don’t drink water throughout the day. At most (if not all) venues you’re allowed to bring in a sealed water, so make sure you take one with you. And make sure to take advantage of the water refill tent at each date. You don’t want to miss your favourite band because you fainted due to dehydration.

Dress appropriately

We know it’s cool to wear black jeans with that awesome band hoodie, but be realistic. Like we mentioned above, Warped occurs outside, so go dressed in something appropriate for the weather, like shorts and a t-shirt/tank top. Everyone’s there to have fun and listen to music, not to judge you on how you’re dressed, so make the right decision and don’t get heatstroke.

Wear sunscreen

This one’s pretty self-explanatory. Would you rather get a nice tan or go home red as a tomato? There’s also the risk of skin cancer associated with sun burns, which we know is something you definitely don’t want.

Bring a snack

At most venues, you’re normally allowed to bring in a snack with you, so take advantage of that! Food’s pretty expensive at outdoor events, so bring a Nature Valley Bar. It’ll keep you from spending money on snacks and allow you to save it for meals and merch, which is a plus!

Bring a backpack

Don’t go to Warped empty-handed. You’re allowed to take in a bag with you, so bring one! Not only will you have somewhere to keep your water, sunscreen and snack, but you’ll also have a place to keep your merch without fear of losing it.

Keep your phone charged

Make sure your phone is fully charged before you head to the venue. We know you’ll want to keep everyone up-to-date while you’re there, so make sure your phone has enough power to do so. It’s also comforting to know you’re able to contact someone if needed.

Pro Tip: Make sure your friends have your number and vice versa, so you can call or text each other if you get separated.

Take advantage of Skip The Line while helping out the less fortunate

Skip The Line is offered to those who bring in old cellphones, canned food and/or a donation of $5. Not only do you get to enter the venue before everyone else, but you’ll also be helping “feed hungry children in [your] city and fund their youth empowerment programs!”

What’s better than watching live music while helping those in need?

Make a list of bands you wish to see & make sure to see 2-3 bands you’ve never heard of

Plan ahead of time the bands you wish to see, so when you get to the venue, all you need to do is check out the day’s schedule and be on your way! Also, make sure to check out a few bands you’ve never listened to before. Warped’s a place to discover new music and each band appreciates when potential fans stop by their set and give them a chance.

Buy the schedule/map

For $2, you can purchase a map of the venue that also doubles as the day’s schedule. We recommend buying one because it’ll save you having to find the inflatable schedule every time you want to look up a band’s set time.

Walk around the venue when you get there

Some venues are like mazes, so make sure to take a walk around when you get there. Find all the stages and merch tents. It’ll allow you to spend your day watching bands rather than looking for stages and tents.

Buy the merch you want when you first arrive

We’ve all been there: you waited until the end of a concert to buy merch, only to find that the shirt you wanted was sold out in your size.

Thousands of music fans attend Warped and odds are merch will sell out, so buy what you want immediately and skip the disappointment! You can even store it in that backpack we recommended earlier.

Have fun!

Warped is the best day of the summer. We mean, what’s better than getting to spend the day watching bands with people who appreciate music just as much as you do? So follow these tips and enjoy the day to the fullest!
