Welcome to the second week of #MusicMonday, our weekly recap series. We’re glad you enjoyed our first instalment! This week, we were treated to some of the best music to be released this year, including a new album from Pierce The Veil and a throwback from Good Charlotte. So instead of holding you up, we’ll let you get right into it. Enjoy the music!

1. Good Charlotte - “Life Changes”

“Life Changes” is the latest track to be streamed off Good Charlotte’s comeback album, Youth Authority. A throwback to the pop-punk the band made back in its early days, it’s a song that’s sure to please listeners. The track discusses how life changes and how we should keep a positive mindset while experiencing, a relatable theme all listeners will understand. Paired with infectious melodies, quick-paced drums and sing-along lyrics, it’ll definitely get fans excited for Youth Authority.

Be prepared to mosh to “Life Changes” on Warped this summer.

2. Pierce The Veil - Misadventures

Pierce The Veil are currently streaming the album via Spotify.

Are we the only one’s who screamed “finally!” when we saw Misadventures in our pending downloads? The highly anticipated and long-awaited album from Fearless Records’ Pierce The Veil, Misadventures is an album that definitely lives up to its hype.

Featuring the band’s typical melodic sound blended with their fast-paced nods to the post-hardcore scene they grew up in, Misadventures sees Pierce The Veil emerging as a more mature band than they were four years ago. The band’s lightest album to date, listeners are treated to a more solid songwriting from vocalist Vic Fuentes and features an overall cohesion that many bands struggle to achieve.

The record definitely packs a punch!

3. Issues - “Blue Wall”

Issues continue to defy the confines of genre with their latest track, “Blue Wall”. Off the band’s upcoming Headspace album, the song is one that sees Tyler Carter and co. bringing their post-hardcore roots to the forefront, with intense screams, heavy instruments and clean vocals that keep you entranced. Lyrically, the track is dedicated to the victims of police brutality, as bassist Skyler Acord wrote in a blog post:

“While all lives do matter, black lives need the attention right now and we’re all on the same team. You wouldn’t go to a breast cancer fundraiser with an ‘all cancer matters’ sign now, would ya? You’d go to support your fellow Americans, your fellow HUMANS, in their struggle for longevity and quality of life. That’s what this song is about, that’s our call to action.”

It’s a song with a lot of impact, and it’s sure to raise more social awareness.

4. With Confidence - “Higher”

With Confidence are one of Hopeless Records’ newest signings and are a band that are sure to see a lot of success with the label. Bringing a sound that’s 5 Seconds of Summer meets All Time Low, it’s quite possible that this Australian four-piece could be the future of melodic pop-punk.

This track - “Higher” - is off the band’s upcoming album, Better Weather, and features strong pop sentiments, sing along lyrics and an overall summer vibe that’ll get you stoked for what else the band has to offer.

5. Locket - Never There, Never Was EP

Locket are currently streaming the EP via Bandcamp.

If you want music that seamlessly blends post-hardcore with the easy listening and ambience of shoe gaze, look no further than Take This To Heart’s own Locket. The band are a unique gem in a genre that can become oversaturated with the same breakdowns, lyrical content and bass, and they’re sure to rise quickly within the scene. Don’t believe us? Give “Everything’s Fine” and “Curiosity Killed Me” a listen.

Take This To Heart are seriously killing it right now with their signings, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see them become one of the next great indie labels.
