Review: Issues - Coma (Single)

image

Issues have released their new single, titled “Coma”. The second off the band’s upcoming album Headspace, it shows the band continuing to meld their heavy roots with a melodic sound.

The song starts with an instrumental introduction, reminding fans of tracks like “The Worst of Them” and “The Settlement”. Filled with hard drum patterns, high tempo guitar and electro-vocals toward the beginning, it could be said that Issues are getting back into their groove with this next hit.

Vocally, Tyler Carter’s melodic voice belt throughout and the track, for the first time in the band’s history, features clean vocals from screamer Michael Bohn. Lyrically, the song details not wanting to let go on someone they care about - in a relationship sense - who’s fighting for their life in the hospital. They only want them to give them a chance and they wish to be good enough, a sentiment shared in the chorus: “I want to be all you think about / Anything and everything you dream about / As if I’ve had it all figured out / I want to be the one you can’t breathe without”.

With sentimental lyrics and an overall instrumental sound that combine to make a beautiful track, “Coma” is sure to become a fan favourite. If Headspace sounds anything like this single, it is sure to be an album for the charts!
