INTERVIEW: Nick Greeson of Exit Life

How would you describe Exit Life to those who have never listened to the band before?
Fast, heavy and aggressive.
Who were your musical influences growing up?
Madball, Slayer, Maiden, Hatebreed, Brand New, rock ‘n’ roll, punk, etc.
London has a pretty strong heavy scene. How would you say it’s helped in Exit Life’s growth?
Our growth as a band has come more from playing other cities, as we usually have a better reception out of town.
You released your debut EP, S/T, late last year. How would you describe it?
Fast and heavy front to back [with] two guest vocalists, and a huge step up in terms of quality compared to our releases as Strength In Numbers.
How has the reaction been like with S/T’s first single, “Welcome Home”?
The reception has been overwhelming. We couldn’t be happier as a band with the outcome of the release.
What was it like working with Aiden from Falsifier?
It was cool. He’s been a friend of our for a while, so it was great to have him be a part of the recording process.
Social media is a major tool for up-and-coming bands. How do you feel it’s helped in the band’s growth?
Social media is an excellent resource for promoting, although we do not feel it has actually helped us grow as a band at this point, besides a few extra international fans.
What plans do you have for Exit Life in 2015?
Grow weed in March, release another EP in the spring and tour in the summer.
Are there any local bands you feel people need to check out?
There are so many local bands, it’s hard to narrow it down to a few one should check out. Although, off the top of our heads, check out Amnesty, DXXDFLXXS, Weston, Days Fade, Falsifier [and] King Pin.
Final question: what is your go-to karaoke song?
Bryan Adams – Summer of ‘69
You can purchase S/T on Exit Life’s Bandcamp, and be sure to follow the band on Facebook.
