Limitless is the fourth full-length album from Fearless Records’ Tonight Alive. A release that sees the band moving away from their pop-punk and alternative rock-based sound in favour of one heavily influenced by pop and electronica, it’s an interesting move and one that may or may not have worked in their favour.
From the first listen, it’s evident that Tonight Alive went into Limitless with no intention of recreating their previous records. As frontwoman Jenna McDougall has stated in interviews, the band wanted to branch out and create something new - and that something new is quite apparent. Throughout the 38 minute duration, there are few instances that are reminiscent of the “old” Tonight Alive, with “How Does It Feel?” utilizing the alternative rock vibe that defined 2013′s The Other Side and “To Be Free” bringing in heavier elements that bring to mind the style one would associate with the band.

Limitless is the eagerly awaited fourth full-length from Australian quintet, Tonight Alive. Described as a release showcasing a “powerful pop” sound”, the album differs from anything the band has previously released, with them transitioning from pop-punk to power-pop. A risky move, it appears the band have potentially pulled it off and have proved just how bold they can be.
Starting off Limitless is “To Be Free”. Comparable to 2013′s “The Ocean”, it features an electronic-punk vibe that will having everyone singing along and bobbing their heads. It’s followed by “Oxygen”, which offers a slower and steadier beat, with a piano melody and light drum pattern playing throughout. The song is the first introduction to Tonight Alive’s new sound and allows listeners to take it into consideration early into the album.

Ignite are a melodic punk band from Southern California. After a 10-year break, the guys are back with their new album, A War Against You, and Legendary Kids Press was able to speak with bassist Brett Rasmussen about the release.
How would you describe your sound to those who have never listened to the band before?
Well, that depends on who I am talking to. If I am describing the band to somebody who is schooled in punk rock and hardcore, then I usually say that we take influence from bands like Uniform Choice, Bad Religion, Bad Brains and some rock influences as well, like Quicksand or Helmet.
If I am talking to somebody I am sitting next to on an airplane who watches American Idol as their means of staying current in music, then I simplify it down to something like a mix of the Offspring and Metallica.
You guys formed in 1993. 23 years is a long time for a band to stay together, especially in a climate where being musician isn’t necessarily the easiest job. What would you say is the secret to Ignite’s longevity?
It really comes down to the songs. Our songs seem to strike a chord with people and that has given us our longevity. I mean, if the people out there in the world didn’t connect with our songs then we wouldn’t be able to tour and keep the band going. People would stop coming to our shows and thus make the band irrelevant.

Dissonants is the third album from Australian rockers, Hands Like Houses. Featuring a sound that blends the heaviness of 2012′s Ground Dweller with the lyrical intricacy of 2014′s Unimagine, the latest release sees the band at the top of their game and ready to take 2016 by storm.
Hands Like Houses are one of the fastest rising bands in the post-hardcore/rock scene and Dissonants is a prime example as to why. Sonically, the album sees the band bringing in heavier elements, with a noticeable focus on drums and bass. They’ve added dimension to the heaviness seen on Ground Dweller by making things louder and more precise (”I Am”, “Colourblind”), and after blending that sound with the melody and alternative rock vibe that was present on Unimagine (”Degrees of Separation”, “Perspectives”) have created a sound that’s unique and unlike what’s heard in the scene today.

Bad Ideas have released their new single, titled “Give Up”. Head below to give it a listen.
