Like Pacific are a pop-punk band from Toronto, Ontario. With the release of their new album and a tour with scene heavy-weights Neck Deep and State Champs slated for this month, the band are gearing up for a pretty busy 2016. Recently, Legendary Kids Press was able to speak with bassist Chris Thaung to discuss the year ahead.
How would you describe your music to those who have never listened to the band before?
Melodic and angry.
How did the band come together?
Jordan [Black, vocalist] actually started the band in 2010 with some friends from the area of Durham region, about 40 minutes from Toronto. They had some tough luck finding a dedicated bass player and, at the time, I had just come off being an inactive musician for two years. I threw up an ad on Craigslist, as did they, and we just kind [of] found each other. Both guitarists and drummer left about a year and a half ago, so Jordan and I relocated to Toronto and decided to take another stab at this, and here we are today.

American Standards are a punk band from Arizona. With the band winding down the touring cycle for their EP, Hungry Hands, and a new album in the works, the four-piece are sure to have a busy 2016. Legendary Kids Press caught up with guitarist Corey Skowronski to discuss what fans can expect from the new release.
How would you describe the band’s music to those who have never listened to you before?
I, personally, tell people that American Standards is a punk band. I say that because I feel it embodies who we are and our aesthetic. But I also believe that when I say we are a punk band, people automatically think we sound like Green Day or something - we’re louder than Green Day.
Who are the individual influences for each member of the band?
We pull influences from just about everywhere. In my opinion, Brandon’s [Kellum, vocals] big one is Tom Waits, Mitch [Hosier, drums] loves Converge and The Fall Of Troy, Steve [Mandell, bass] has Rod Stewart and I’m completely inspired by Ryan Adams.

The Summer War are an alternative rock band from Manchester, UK. With the release of their new EP, Cult Of You, set for release this April, the band are gearing up for a busy year. Legendary Kids Press was recently able to catch up with them to discuss the EP, their touring plans and how the band came to be.
How would you describe The Summer War to those who have never listened to the band before?
Jack: I would say we are a band that aims to musically try to do something different in an already over-saturated market. I think as a three-piece, the sound is quite raw and dynamic, which really shines through when listening to the EP.
Dave: We are an alternative indie-rock band, heavy on the guitars and drums. We’ve been told that we put on a pretty raw and energetic live show, as well.
How did the band come together?
D: Tom and I have been friends since I joined a band he was playing in at the age of 16 - Boy Rescue. We were both itching to start a band when we both so happened to move to Sheffield for university, so we put some ads out online for a drummer. A few drummers responded, but after meeting Jack, something just seemed to click, and he’s been [a] part of our lives ever since…

Face Value are a pop-punk four-piece from the Baltimore area. Steadily gaining a following across the United States, the band are looking grow their following with the release of their upcoming EP. Recently, Legendary Kids Press was able to speak with bassist Grayson Ross about the release and the band’s touring schedule.
How would you describe Face Value to those who have never listened to your music before?
I’d describe us as an intriguing mix between old school and new school pop-punk - a taste of both worlds for everyone to enjoy.
How did you guys come together?
Alec Myers [frontman] and Jeremiah “Jeb” Douglas [guitarist and drummer] have been jamming together for years. After their teenage band slowly dismembered, they met Parker Ross [lead guitarist] at a mutual friend’s party and had him fill-in on bass for some of their planned shows. After playing with Parker more and [myself, bassist], his brother, they asked [us] to join and became what is now “Face Value”. We had our first full band show as this line-up in the summer of 2014 and have been kicking ass and taking names ever since.

First Light is the sophomore EP from Leeds alt-rockers, Day Old Hate. A release that features five tracks of melodic and hard-hitting rock music, First Light is sure to appease old fans while bringing the band a wealth of new listeners.
Beginning with the drum-based track “Don’t Chase Me”, it’s easy to hear the type of vibe Day Old Hate are going for with First Light. With a rock-centric sound that blends with the occasional melodic guitar riff, it’s a good intro to the release. It leads into the slower and more guitar-driven “Fifteen”, one of the EP’s weaker offerings (if you could even call it that). Listeners can tell that the band primarily focused on the instrumentation with this track, with their hard work paying off especially toward the end.

“Good Enough” is the latest single from Indiana pop artist, The Ready Set. A comeback of sorts, it showcases The Ready Set - real name Jordan Witzigreuter - returning to his roots while managing to incorporate the elements of radio pop that’ll leave fans hooked and returning for more.
For those unfamiliar with Witzigreuter’s pop music, it can be described as fun and easy listening. There are no elements that are too out of the box, but it’s unique enough to satisfy listeners. “Good Enough” follows this trend. A summer-esque track that features a sound reminiscent of OMI’s “Cheerleader” and Witzigreuter’s 2011 EP, Feel Good Now, it’s a single that one could easily picture hearing on the radio. With lyrical content that’s centred around love and relationships, it’s a song that listeners will be able to relate to whilst singing along.
