LKP's One to Watch: Mary English

Meet Mary English, a 17-year-old pop artist from Charlotte, North Carolina. A natural talent, she’s been performing for audiences nearly all her life and it’s only a matter of time until she reaches a wider audience.

Mary English began acting on her love of performing at the age of three. Beginning her career as a ballet dancer, she eventually turned her attention to acting, where she would perform in junior theatre. Both activities got her comfortable in front of a crowd and allowed her to showcase her talents to an audience outside her family. While dancing and acting, she began noticing a passion for singing and it just so happened she had a voice to match. Within a few years, English was hitting the studio to create her own brand of pop music.

Review: Bring Me The Horizon - Drown (Single)

“Drown” is the new track from British metalcore five-piece Bring Me The Horizon. A definite step in a new and fresh direction, the single showcases the band’s continued journey to a new sound and I can personally say I enjoyed every second of it.

The track begins with a light alternative-rock sound that later transforms into a solid rock melody. A far cry from their first three albums, it looks like Bring Me The Horizon are channeling a vibe similar to that found on Sempiternal. Vocalist Oli Sykes ditches his signature raspy screams, instead opting to sing and showcase the song’s lyrical content (which speaks of the world sometimes being too heavy to handle), and the overall instrumentation isn’t as anger-filled or loud as it has been in earlier releases.
